Course Outline:
Below is a tentative outline of the units we are covering and when we are covering the particular unit. Also beside the units will be the titles of the projects they will be doing either in class and/or at home.
August-September: Geography-Create your own country
September-October: Mesopotamia
October-November: Africa- Pyramid project
November-December: China and Japan
January: Greece- Greek god trading cards
February: Rome- Rome Emperor Powerpoint
March: Middle Ages and Rennaissance- Tic Tac Toe choice board
April-May: Exploration and Mesoamerica- Country Poster
May: MSL/EOG Review/Testing
Homework Expectations: Your child should write down all homework assignments in his/her agenda daily. If your child checks into school for the day (even if he/she checks in late or checks out early), he/she is responsible for completing the homework for the classes that he/she attended prior to leaving school by the next school day. In order to receive full credit, assignments should be completed neatly, accurately, and on time. Students’ completion of homework and class assignments is essential to success in the classroom.
Absence Make-Up Procedure: Upon returning to school following an absence, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the teacher to request make-up work. The student must complete make up work within the allotted time specified by the teacher. (The student will be given the same amount of time to make up the work as the student was absent unless other arrangements are mutually agreed upon.) The student will receive an actual grade on the make-up work if the absence was “excused.”
Classroom Expectations
1. ALWAYS TRY YOUR BEST!!! Put forth your best effort on all class assignments. Encourage your peers to try their best on all they do. Support and help one another so we can learn together.
2. BE PREPARED FOR CLASS. Be on time and on task for class. Have everything you need before class begins. This includes making trips to the restroom.
3. BE HONEST. I expect you to be genuine and sincere as you complete all tests, assignments, and projects. Students found plagiarizing, copying, or cheating in any way will receive automatic zeros.
4. RESPECT EACH OTHER. Respect each other, teachers, staff, and our school at all times. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Hateful comments concerning race, gender, appearance or any other issue will not be tolerated; this applies to “joking” comments. Please be aware of those around you and respect each person’s physical space.
5. SLEEP AT HOME. Sleeping is not permitted. You may not sleep in class. I must be able to see your OPEN eyes at all times. If you feel the need to sleep, you need to go to bed earlier.

Course Description
Students will use historical thinking to analyze various societies. Students will learn how historical events, documents, people, and societies have influenced the world they live in.
